Six hundred hot pink and green handmade prints? Join Jennifer as she chats about her debut solo show and demonstrates the art of Japanese woodblock printing. A 400-year-old craft, Japanese 'mokuhanga' is a unique printmaking method known best in 'ukiyoe' prints. Jennifer combines this ancient technique with screenprint, linocut and painting to form a visual exploration of history and heritage.

Australian-Peranakan artist, Jennifer Lim creates contemporary paintings and prints inspired by her own cross cultural experience. Using the highly technical craft of Japanese woodblock, combined with screen printing, linocut and painting, Jennifer produces a visual exploration of history and heritage.
A graduate of the Australian National University, Jennifer holds a combined degree in Visual Arts (Printmaking) & Asian Studies (Japanese). Trained in Japanese woodblock at Kyoto Seika University by the renowned Japanese printmaker Akira Kurosaki, Jennifer was also a summer intern at ‘Karacho’ - an artisan studio hand-printing Japanese decorative papers since 1624 in Kyoto. She has a Diploma of Building Design and Interior Technology from Southbank Institute of Technology, Brisbane.
Jennifer moved to Singapore in 2012 to reconnect with her Hokkien and Peranakan roots and has served as a Museum Volunteer for the Peranakan Museum. She lives in Toa Payoh, a heartland area that serves as daily inspiration. Jennifer’s works are collected in countries including Singapore, Australia and Japan.
